Dental Implants Periodontist
At University Periodontal Associates, you can have your dental implants, including implant dentures, placed by someone with the training and skill to get them done right. Dr. Dennison is a Periodontist, along with his surgical training is the specific specialization in bone grafts and the placement of dental implants. When having any surgical procedure done, alleviate the risks and rely on someone who is experienced and qualified to do so.
Why have your implants placed by a Periodontist?
As tooth implants increase in popularity, and with such a high success rate (95-97%), patients are misleadingly assuming that the implant placement process is a simple procedure. The truth is, the high success rate comes from that up to this point most dental implants have been placed by highly skilled specialists. Specialists, like Dr. Dennison, have an in-depth knowledge of surgical techniques, allowing for correct placement, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of potential complications including the right amount of bone density being available. Increasingly, general dentists are completing this procedure in office, without consideration of the whole picture.
Is an Implantologist better?
The American Dental Association does not recognize the specialty of an Implantologist. Implantologists are not accredited specialists. A self-described Implantologist does not necessarily indicate surgical training, experience or expertise in dental implants. This term has been misleading to patients, implying that a specialty exists where it does not. A Periodontist is surgically trained, and to recieve the title, they have completed the specific protocol established by the ADA.
