Nitrous Oxide Conscious Sedation
At University Periodontal Associates in Houston, TX, we understand that there are fears that come with dentistry. We have had clients who have avoided dental procedures due to memories of past discomfort.
Dr. Dennison doesn't want you to ignore oral health issues. Dental problems seldom go away, they grow, small problems become big ones.
How can sedation help?Sedation helps our Houston patients relax. There are many levels of sedation that we are happy to discuss with you. If you are experiencing fears or feelings of uneasiness about your pending dental visit, we can help.
Starting with basic levels of sedation, our office offers Nitrous Oxide, also known as Laughing Gas, which is designed to calm your nerves and relax a patient while work is done. If this is not enough, we can discuss oral sedation, which will also relax a patient, sometimes to the point of falling asleep.
Finally, we offer IV Sedation. Using an IV, we can ensure that you sleep through the entire dental procedure and will then have no memory of ever having been worked on. Additionally, if you choose this option, we are able to get all work needed completed in one visit, which is very desirable to patients who do not like spending time in the dentist chair.
Is IV Sedation safe? The reality is that there is a certain level of risk with any form of sedation. The trick is working with a dentist who knows what they are doing. Dr. Dennison has participated in extended education courses to help ensure the safety of his Houston patients.
He has received training in Cardiac Life Support and has been trained in the same way that those who work in Ambulances have, which is intense immediate care. With his training, Dr. Dennison knows the warning signs and observes them before a problem occurs.
We want you to be comfortable, and above all, we want you to be safe. Contact our Houston office for more information. 832-975-0990
