It is recommended that you visit the dentist at least twice a year. Early signs of health problems such as cavities, gingivitis, and periodontal gum disease can be detected by the dentist. Your gums must be healthy for you to have a beautiful smile.
Gingivitis is a milder form of gum disease caused by an accumulation of germs in the mouth. Plaque accumulates between teeth, allowing bacteria to enter and cause tooth decay. Gingivitis must be treated with antimicrobial mouthwash before it develops to periodontal gum disease. Periodontitis wreaks havoc on the gums, causing them to worsen and eventually result in the loss of natural teeth. Use mouthwash to keep your teeth healthy and prevent gum disease.
Brushing and flossing of the teeth
Brushing and flossing must be done daily to maintain healthy gums. Food particles can accumulate in between teeth, forming plaque and tartar. Plaque buildup causes tooth decay, which can progress to gum disease.
Avoid acidic foods for your teeth
Acid erodes the enamel, which serves as a protective coating for the dentin. Foods high in citric acid, such as lemons, oranges, and citrus fruits, are known to cause tooth erosion. These foods are nutritious, but they must be consumed during other meals to offset their negative effects. Soft drinks and sports drinks, for example, cause tooth erosion because they contain acid, which is harmful to the teeth. If you want to keep your gums healthy, avoid these foods.
Regular Dental visits
If you need to maintain proper dental health you need to visit the dentist regularly for examination and so that the dentist will detect early signs of oral problems.
